Ted Davis, our mountainoperations manager, and I took the first run of the season this afternoon (Monday)and it was fantastic. I'm pleased to tell you all that we are going to havesome very nice conditions for opening day on Thursday (December 10th). Ourfirst run was down The Wall to Upper and Lower Whistler. The coverage is edgeto edge and the base depths are very good. The snowmaking crew is doing atremendous job. In addition to The Wall and Whistler, the crew has been workingon Upper and Lower Wolverine, What's Next, Willpower and Woolly Bear. Soon wewill be spreading out to add much more terrain in a push to get all of ourlifts open as quickly as possible.

From Holiday Valley in Ellicottville, N.Y.:Opening day of the 2009-2010season will be Thursday, December 10, weather permitting. Three quad chairliftsand up to 10 slopes will be open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. “Conditions have beenexcellent for snowmaking since last Friday and we’ve been making snow 24 hoursper day since then”, remarked Dennis Eshbaugh. “The weather from Thursdayforward will give us a good taste of winter with lows at night in the teens andsnow squalls, just the way we like it!” Lift tickets on Thursday will be $47for adults and $37 juniors for an 8 hours lift ticket and $30 for adults and$22 for juniors for a night ticket. Snowmaking will continue as weather permitswith the goal of all 56 slopes and 13 lifts open by Christmas or before.

From Belleayre Mountain in New York’s Catskill Region: It’s official. The Belleayre Ski Centeris open for the season. Mother Nature finally sent the needed cold weather tothe Northeast, along with five inches of natural snow over the weekend enablingBelleayre to begin its 60th season bringing affordable winter recreation to theresidents of New Yorkand beyond.
