You are absolutely right! Many project fails becous management don't see or don't want to see the reality. Or if theyseeit, they are reluctant to express it openly due to political reasons.
The key issue is what if the opinion of management/project sponsor contradict with the opinion of the "small people"? More than that, what if the "small people" are obviously right? That's where problems begin...

I agree as well. In fact the end user is one of the key actors one would need to depict accurate functionality in the use cases.
Having said that, I find that sometimes, when the end users see that you are observing them work, they don't do everything exactly the same way they would if you aren't around.. e.g. they may not do the shortcuts that they typically do.

You are so right. Thank you for talking for the "little people". As a company that does Project Management consulting, we always make it a priority to sit and talk with the ones who are considered the "front line". These are usually the "hourly" or tier 2 employees. Some of the best input in our projects come from the ones who will be carrying out the "project".
