SUMMARY:
Assists the Regional Finance Officer and Sales team in the analysis, marketing, and management of programs and initiatives that drive profitable growth of PI business in New Jersey.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Assist in using Travelers and other tools to monitor and diagnose agency components of growth results
* to include quote, close rate, production and retention results. Strong proficiency in the use of Excel and Access required. Analyze data from a variety of sources then identify trend changes in the book of business at the State, market and agency level. Isolate agent segments or markets driving these changes and make recommendations to Sales team to correct, or to capitalize on the opportunity. Coordinate and manage marketing programs with Sales team using appropriate skills to complete assignments that support business goals. Clearly summarize findings and provide necessary reports to support marketing programs and processes with Sales team. Some travel within NJ is expected with RFO, Regional Sales Directors and Sales Executives to understand market opportunities and to help ensure focus on key marketing objectives. Help generate leads for new agency business leveraging existing Travelers tools. Identify opportunities to account round and cross sell Travelers products and share information with Sales Executives. Assist in convincing agents to represent and promote Travelers products and services. Develop and maintain positive working relationships. Actively contact internal and external customers to solicit input from key stakeholders and to assure satisfaction. Stay current on product and pricing changes. Articulate company position and assist in seeking out business-appropriate agencies to meet Travelers objectives. Assist in research for agents' Strategic Agency Management (SAM) plans. Provide follow up to customer service requests; elevate unresolved matters to ensure prompt resolution. Assist in the preparation of presentation material for agencies. Learn Travelers' computer systems and assist agents with issues or coordinate with training to help resolve these issues.
EDUCATION/COURSE OF STUDY: Bachelor's degree preferred 2-5 years working experience, preferably in a sales or insurance environment Strong knowledge of all Microsoft Office products; able to manipulate data in Excel and Access quickly and accurately. Possess analytical skills to evaluate needs and apply solutions

With guidance, they will evaluate new and renewal business to accept, decline, modify and price accounts. Participants also develop effective relationships with internal sources to ensure the delivery of all related services to customers and help with related projects and assignments, such as the review and development of agency production, policy service and workflow. UPDP participants will graduate to manage their own underwriting territory and contribute positively to their business unit¿s plan and Travelers¿ overall profitability. Training and development: Participants combine comprehensive on-the-job training in their field office with classroom training in Hartford, Conn. and Saint Paul, Minn. After completing this core training rotation they continue working with their assigned coaches toward managing their initial underwriting assignments.
