DESCRIPTION: Organization: Public ServiceLocation: New York City, NYThe Public Service operating group serves government organizations around the globe, as well as foundations, Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) and non-profit enterprises. Individuals in the Services - Project Based workgroup provide specialized outsourcing business development and service delivery expertise to support the mobilization efforts associated with Accenture's outsourcing services to one or multiple clients. People in this workgroup are assigned depending on their capabilities, specialization and their availability to meet the project's timeline requirements.Job DescriptionThe Business Development Director will be responsible for identifying and engaging strategic opportunities, new clients, and new capabilities for the New York City- State and Local Government sector. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate comprehensive understanding of Accenture high value products and services, depth and breadth of services and financials and will develop and maintain relationships that benefit Accenture.Primary Responsibilities:Identifies customer prospects and develops those prospects into closed business in line with Accenture's growth strategy; applies Accenture criteria to screen dealsUnderstands Accenture offerings and immediate strategy; provides thought leadership on future strategyUnderstands the current market and anticipates future trends; conducts market research and analysis to identify potential business development opportunitiesUnderstands competitors' strengths and weaknesses; effectively articulates Accenture's competitive advantageSells Accenture's services throughout the sales cycle at an executive level and works with clients to effectively negotiate and secure profitable businessEstablishes relationships to capture new customers, anticipating their needs and undertaking actions to exceed their expectationsDevelops existing and new relationships with key client decision makers and within AccentureIdentifies client's business needs and influences development of the Request for Proposal to the advantage of Accenture; offers value-added, insightful and strategic input to client's businessStrategically deploys sales expertise and disciplines to qualify honestly and shape relentlessly, maximizing our impact on salesParticipates in win strategy sessionsActively involved in proposal formulation to provide continuity between strategy and proposed project approach; partners with SalesTeam and Legal to position solution that meets buyer's needsMaintains relationships with customers on professional and personal levelsEstablishes effective communication links that lead to achieving sales objectivesDevelops and executes plans for client visitsParticipates in account planning and call planningLeverages extensive relationships to identify the "right deals"Provides insight and contacts to form strategic teaming agreements and alliancesCoordinates and participates in proactively integrating business development with Marketing, Media Relations and Government Relations initiativesCoordinates opportunity discovery activitiesDemonstrates the highest personal standards of ethics and conduct and emulates the behaviors articulated by Accenture's Core Values and Code of Business EthicsAbility to travel up to 10%Basic Qualifications5 years Relationship Management experience4 years Account Planning experience4 years Management experience5 years experience in New York government agencyPreferred SkillsProven sales campaign/relationship management skills6 years of Business Development experience4 years Pipeline Qualification5 years experience in one or more of the following: Consulting Services, Business Process Outsourcing, or Information Technology solutions4 years Call Planning experienceProfessional SkillsDemonstrated oral and written communication skillsAbility to work as an integral part of a proposal development teamOur people are our most important asset and we invest considerable resources to provide on-going training that builds and extends professional, technical and management skills in all areas.
